Great scissors

I actually got these as a gift for my daughter who likes quilting. Rotary cutters only work for straight lines, so these are nice when you have to do curves. Her comments were that they were really sharp, clear to the tips, and they had no problem cutting satin easily.She's very pleased with them. According to others, if they ever need resharpening, always send them back to Gingher.

Not Nearly As Good As Expected

I was excited to see the price drop and bought a pair. Until then, I had used Mundial Classic Forged 8-Inch Dressmaker Shears with Safety Sheath and they worked very smoothly, but I thought the Ginghers would work even better.
As soon as I took the Ginghers out of the box I noticed that they are very sharp, sharper than the Mundials ever were; good I thought. However, they do not work nearly as smoothly as the Mundials. When closing them, it seems the two blades are too close together and the friction they create makes you feel quite a resistance when closing them.
This might be a personal preference, but when cutting a lot of fabric my hands do not need the extra resistance created by the two blades not aligning perfectly. I did oil them and nothing changed. I will definitely go back to my Mundials and use the Ginghers as my back-up fabric scissors.

Great gift

These were given as a gift to my sewing guild's retiring president. They engraved nicely. Gingher scissors are some of the finest tools available to sewists.
